Beautiful weather was the rule at this year's edition of Super Chevy Show, July 13-15 at Indy's O'Reilly Raceway Park. After last year's sauna-like conditions, the low 80's and dry air was a welcome reprieve. As always, hundreds of pristine Chevys were on display in the car show and tearing up the quarter-mile asphalt dragstrip. Dennis Barnett, Steve Brody, Von Cassidy, and Tom Mikesell entered their Chevelles in the car show and Mike Pell had his on display in the TREMEC Transmissions booth. Chuck and Florence Collins had their parts trailer with awning set up in the swap meet area and provided a welcome oasis with shade, food, and refreshments. Rick Hornback was racing his '69 Chevelle and after a winter horsepower infusion was running low 11's on motor and low 10's with a shot of nitrous. That's flat getting with the program. Congrats to Brody for winning the "Outstanding Street" award on Saturday and winning his class on Sunday with his '65 2 dr post sedan. Dennis Barnett also won his class with his '66 Malibu 2 dr hardtop and Von Cassidy scored an "Outstanding" (RU) in his class with his '69 SS. Super Chevy Indy car count has dwindled some in recent years, probably due to competition from other events, but it's still a fun time and a great way to spend a day or weekend.
