$4995 to get it back and that was before the restoration work took place.  That's where my brother Ron comes in.  He told Aaron to take the car over to his house.  I was still managing the campground at this time.  When I came back home on Wednesday, three days after the picnic, Ron had my whole car torn apart.  When he got into it, he discovered everything in the car was still matching numbers, down to the carburetor.  That's when I realized it was going to get restored.  None of this could be possible without Ron.  He did everything.  There is no one I trusted more than him.  Every part/price that was replaced was documented and itemized by compartments.  The only bad thing about that is that we know how much money we spent.  Everyone knows that it's not cheap.

Note: Susie McFarland did such a good job writing it and has such an extraordinary story to tell that I copied it almost verbatim.

Hello, my name is Susie McFarland.  I am the original matching owner of an original matching number 1967 SS 396 Chevelle.  I was born and raised on a farm in southeastern Franklin Township, Marion County, IN.  We raised dairy cows and grain crops.  I attended Bunker Hill Grade School, Franklin Township Junior High School, and graduated from Franklin Central High School in June of 1967.  On August 15, 1967, I bought my first car - the Chevelle.  I purchased it off the show-room floor at Nankivell Chevrolet (now Hubler)  My car payments were $73.62 for two years.  It felt like a million dollars.
In 1970 I got married and then divorced a few years later (still had my car).  From the marriage came two sons, Aaron (age 35) and Casey (age 32).  Aaron is married and has two children, Alexa (age 8) and Austin (age 5).  You might have noticed that I haven't been involved as much as I used to.  You can thank the two grandchildren.  I spend all of my free time with them.  Casey is still single and travels all of the time.  I've worked for a few companies over the years, The Indiana Credit Union League, wrote service at Tom Wood Pontiac, ran a campground over by Turkey Run State Park for 5 years, and for the past 7 years employed by the Indiana Association of Plumbing-Heating-Cooling Contractors.
The Chevelle was my daily driver for 14 years and was never garaged.  It was getting pretty rough when I decided to sell it.  I got $1000 for it in 1981.  I'm thinking, not too bad for a car I bought for around $2,800.  The funny part of it was, I kept practically every piece of paper I had on the car, the original handwritten invoice, original insurance papers, all license plate registration papers, the build sheet, owner's manual, protecto-plate manual and just recently I found my first license plate from 1967.  The car was out of sight for 16 years, but I didn't let go of any of this paperwork.  Then one day at a family picnic in the fall of 1997, organized by my sons, I see my Chevelle coming driving through the yard.  My two boys at found my Chevelle and bought it back for me as a surprise.  I didn't have a clue that they were planning this at all.  So everything came back together just like it was almost 30 years to the day I bought it.  They only difference was that they had to pay
