Tom Mikesell has started the project to turn his '48 Studebaker pickup street rod into an extended cab version for more legroom. To that end he obtained a donor cab to modify while keeping the existing original cab intact and drivable. Tom has the donor cab back after having a fellow in Missouri chop it 2" and lengthen it 10 ½", all in the door area. Tom plans to do the finish bodywork and also perform some more mods such as build a custom dash, shave the door handles, eliminate the gas filler, etc.
In the meantime, last winter Tom took the truck to his paint guy to have the flames "freshened up". Well one thing led to another and the end result was a complete new paint job and color, which is beautiful. Pictures below and on next page.
