HSCA Oct Meeting & Himes Open House

Again  members of HSCA and the Indy GTO Club  descended upon Dave Himes' Automazing facility in Westfield Saturday October 20, this time for a Fall open house. Many Chevelles, GTO's, and other classic cars and hot rods were on display while people were treated to a seminar, food, drink, a dyno pull, and virtual drag racing (via a practice Christmas tree that records reaction times).
The seminar subject was  "power adders" such as supercharging, turbocharging, and nitrous oxide. Advantages and disadvantages of each were discussed and tips were given on how to make them work best and avoid problems. Subway sandwiches, potato salad, and cookies were served along with plenty of cold drinks, including some of the adult kind. Virtual drag racing was held on the practice tree with $300 in prize money (no entry fee) up for grabs. Tyler Hornback made it to the semi-finals. A dynomometer pull was made with a big-block Chevy that made over 1,000 hp.  Reportedly Popular Hot Rodding Magazine is going to do an article on that engine.
Also, Dave Himes was presented a plaque by HSCA Secretary Melissa Mikesell to show HSCA'a appreciation for his support of our annual car show.
