What has become a semi-annual event, Himes Automazing hosted another open house for HSCA and the Indy GTO Club Saturday April 21. Genuine Wisconsin brats, potato salad, and other fixins were served up with plenty of liquids to wash it down. Seminars were given by Dave Himes on oil quality and additives and on gasoline octane requirements. Solutions to problems in those areas were discussed. There were many pristine GTO's and other Pontiacs there as well as a number of Chevelles, plus a few street rods. During the open house a dyno pull was made on a 598 cu in big block Chevy. It produced 1,041 hp and 960 ft/lb on gas with no nitrous, blower, etc. And it sounded awesome. Dave also fired up his 3,200 hp blown alcohol hemi '55 Chevy Pro-Mod car. It made some ear splitting sweet music. The reaction time Christmas Tree was in action for the virtual drag racing with $200 to the winner. Mike Norman's '65 Chevelle was even seen doing a burnout out. The HSCA car show Best of Show trophy was unveiled and it is just unbelievable. Go to the club website to see and read about the making of it. There's also a picture on the next page Himes Automazing is in Westfield and does all types of mechanical performance and repair work.
