This issue's member spotlight is on Ken Townsend. Ken and his father own Townsend Glass Company and Ken made the beautiful trophies for last year's and this year's HSCA car shows, including the unbelievable Best of Show trophy for this year's show. Ken and wife Bobbie live in the Westfield area with their 5 children; son Brett 15, and daughters Hailey 12, Madelyn 8, Keri 4, and Emma 3.                                                                                                            Ken was born in Noblesville in 1966 and moved to Colorado at age 3 where his dad started a glass company. Later he moved to Nebraska where he graduated HS and graduated from the University of Nebraska with a degree in business admin. and industrial technology. In college he had a job fixing and selling audio and alarm systems in cars and homes. After college he moved back to Indiana and worked with cellular phones and mobile office systems. Ken and his father started the glass company in 1991 where they do residential, commercial, and automotive glass (classic cars too) glass and window sales and service. This year they started TGC Woodworking, where they do specialty millwork for window parts and small woodworking projects.
When Ken was in the 7th grade he asked his father what a camshaft was and his father explained how an internal combustion engine works. Ken has been fascinated with cars ever since. He loves the restoration process. His first car was a '64 Chevelle 4 dr that he bought for $185. Since then he's been wheeling and dealing all kinds of Chevys. He likes anything '55 to 70's but Chevelles are his favorite. The first car he helped restore was his dad's '57 Chevy 2 dr hardtop. Currently he's working on collecting and restoring all 7 body styles of the '64 Chevelle. All he needs is a 2 dr wagon to complete the set. He also has a '66 Chevy truck (for sale), a '55 Chevy wagon (for sale), '55 Chevy 2 dr hdtp, '56 Chevy 2 dr hdtp, '69 Chevy van, several parts cars, and stacks of parts. Ken also belongs to the Japanese Vintage Motorcycle Club. He has a few old import bikes, one of which he used to drag race. He also enjoys gun collecting and in school was on the trap shooting team. He likes old motor scooters

and Wheel Horse lawn tractors too.
Bobbie is a Westfield native and grew up just across the street from where they now live. She has a real estate license and also works for the glass company. She has a Pez candy dispenser collection and is interested in a '73 or '74 Corvette convertible. She likes the fact they have only 2 seats. Ken may have to do some babysitting.
Ken says he really enjoys the Chevelle club and talking to and being around other people with the same "old car sickness". But with the kids, work, and all the activities going on it's hard to find time to share things he loves to do with others. He really appreciates the club because it keeps him excited about his hobby and says all the members he's met are truly good people.

HSCA Car Show

The annual HSCA car show is coming up August 25. It will be held at the same location as last year; Indy Speed, Custom, and Restoration in Brownsburg. See the flyer on page 10 for details. We need as many members as possible to be there and help out. Also bring your Chevelle and display it in the club Chevelle display.
