Several years ago John Henderson bought a nice restored original '55 Buick Super Riviera. He didn't like the way the Dynaflow trans functioned so he thought he'd just swap in a later model trans. Of course it couldn't be that simple and he discovered it had an enclosed driveline. That led to swapping out the entire drivetrain, including engine. He installed a rebuilt Chevy 454 with mild cam, aluminum intake, and Holley carb, 700R4 trans, and early Camaro 2.73 10 bolt rear end. He didn't stop there and added an A-body front power disc brake setup with booster and master cyl under the floor. Also a late model 605 power steering box with a modified Tri-Five Chevy steering setup and 2 1/2" exhaust system. The interior remains original with working gauges. Future mods planned include 3.55 or 3.73 rear gears with a posi unit and 20" American TTII wheels with (non-wide whitewall) matching tires. This is one classic Buick that will get out of its own way and then some.
