Tom and Debbie got their start with Chevelles back in the mid 80’s during high school.  That is when Tom bought his first ‘66 for $750 dollars.  It  wasn't long before the ‘66 was sold to buy a gold ‘67 SS Tennessee car.  Many great memories were formed while Tom and Deb cruised and dabbled in street racing.  After high school, the ‘67 Chevelle was sold to buy a late model Mustang GT that was a more practical form of year round transportation while living in Michigan.

Sad to say that was the end of muscle cars for nearly fifteen years.  The  longing for another Chevelle never really went away. When Tom was stationed in California for a few months in ‘02 while attending a military school, the decision was made that it was the right time to jump back in with both feet.

Debbie flew out to visit during Memorial Day weekend and they scoured the newspapers and auto traders until they found the perfect project, a very solid ‘66 that was in need of a motor, transmission,  interior, and a complete restoration.  Since that time they have also purchased a ‘64 “driver” wagon, a ‘67 Suburban (ed. note:  very cool!)  and amassed a rather large collection of parts cars that even they have a hard time keeping track of.

The ‘66 is currently going through a frame off rebuild with a heavy flavor of  pro-touring.  At this time  (June ‘06) the chassis is complete, the motor and trans are ready to go, and the body is at the  paint and body shop.  Even though  there have been some significant setbacks in time, forward progress has continued, and with any luck it will be on the road for summer ‘07!

Current Project:  ‘66 Chevelle with a pro-touring theme (TREMEC Viper T56 6sp trans, 454 BBC, pro-touring suspension and big disc brakes all around).

The “Mule” is off to the right.

May 2007, Our ‘66 finally comes home!

June 27, 2006; You can see where we are currently on the project.  It has been totally stripped, sealed by the body shop, picked up by us so we could build the trans tunnel for the 6 speed and a few other minor things, then it's back to the body shop on the chassis where they will install and align all the panels, then disassemble.  From there, Deb and I go over with our milk crates, blocks of wood, and 4"X4"s and remove the whole thing and reinstall on the rotisserie. Then the paint and body guy does his magic and by then I will have updated everyone many more times.

<ed. note; I’d like to see how they removed this setup from the trailer!  Maybe Tom will entertain us with a video next time.>

Ahhhh, now it fits!

‘66 body to the left, ‘64 Wagon body to the right-center, and a chassis for each.  The one on the right is for the ‘66.  (ed. note; Look close at the suspension goodies and custom wheels.

Sam is a regular help around the shop.

Now THIS is a family portrait!! (from left to right: Kaytlin, Sam, Tom, Deb)
