Special thanks to Mueller Automotive & Performance for hosting our club’s Dyno Day this year!!!

By “Augie” Augustine-
We had a managable sized crowd and a total of six cars, which allowed opportunity for minor tuning along the way, and the group to mingle between runs. Between all the participants as well as on-lookers, it was an exciting time for all involved.
"I can, however, tell you some of highlights, and my personal favorites:
- Every car that strapped down sounded awesome from every angle (inside & outside the shop), but the winner in my mind for "Best Audio" was Mike Pell's race ready, open header "Chamaro". (editor’s note: “Chamaro” is an inside joke name to “allow” the Camaro into the Chevelle Club Dyno Day). Those headers must have at least 6" dia. primary tubes!!! (editor’s note: they are 3.5”, Augie exaggerates a million times per day) Second place to Rod Seaman for opening the "Electro-Dump" system from a toggle INSIDE his car for some really good ear-appeal.
- As a result of running around all day, I'm very sorry to report that I don't recall the highest HP number for the day. I think mid-to-upper 500's, and the "big HP numbers race" was between Charles's 68 "Chamaro" (Rod's buddy, and a beautiful car, I might add) and Mike Pell's race ready "Chamaro". No offense to anyone, but I hope a Chevelle is on top of the pile next time!
-For the highest torque catagory, I again don't have the spcifics, but John Henderson posted an astounding "Six Hundred and...Holy Cow" ft/lbs. of torque with his sexy "triple black" '67 Chevelle.
I felt that Rick Hornback's '69 Chevelle easily "backed up it's beauty and bark" with a strong performance on the dyno, posting big numbers.
I would like to recognize Tom Mikesell, who was one of the first few to show up with a car. He actually came to spectate, but felt bad that nothing had been strapped down yet and unselfishly signed up. After his first run, a vaccuum leak was diagnosed, and he "found" 35 more HP! Thanks for proving another great use for the dyno!
Lastly, I want to recognize the fact that every participant DROVE their car to and from downtown Indy (except Mike's nasty Camaro, but only because of the law, I'm sure!). Rick stated that his car faired well in bumper to bumper construction traffic along the way! All in all, it was a great day for the Big Block Chevy, as well as for all HSCA members who were there I can't wait until we do this again sometime.
See ya, Augie"
